Support Peace House Community

Please help us keep Peace House Community open as the safe, welcoming and affirming respite from the streets for the homeless, sheltered, and group-home residents of the inner city.

Meditation allows members to experience personal empowerment and personal and collective responsibility. To be truly heard and responded to by a small community, to feel safe enough to allow one’s self to be vulnerable, cared for and eventually empowered to listen to and empower others is the goal for each community member. Peace House Community does not work for but with the poor and marginalized through mutuality of service.

100 per cent of funding that PHC receives goes directly to benefit its community members. We have found that certain expenses have increased significantly since we moved to our new building in July of 2013. Specifically, because the number of community members has increased our food and paper goods costs have grown as a result of serving more meals. Our utility expenses have gone up with a larger building to heat and cool. And the costs of compensating our community members who provide kitchen, security, building cleaning and maintenance services, and facilities management have increased because we have been required to have more community members involved in providing those services.

Please note that at PHC, we have no paid administrative staff. We rely on about 35 volunteers who come to PHC in groups of four to six per day, a volunteer Board of Directors and Management Committee and community members (staff) who are paid for specific services required to enable us to carry out our ministry. Your gift goes directly to offset the costs of the services provided at Peace House Community and is fully tax deductible under Section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

Your Legacy Planning

To secure long term funding for Peace House Community to continue to help marginalized women and men in the Twin Cities, the Peace House Community Board of Directors established a Plan Ahead: Leave a Legacy, a planned giving program.

As you plan your legacy, please consider providing an unrestricted gift so we can direct the dollars to meet our most pressing needs and opportunities. When generous supporters choose to include us in their estate plans, they strengthen the hope and dignity of the less fortunate community in our midst.

If you would like to consider including Peace House Community in your estate plan, thereby leaving a gift that will continue beyond your lifetime, please follow the download PDF file for instructions.
